It depends on how business want to create asset. Either first in SAP and updated details in GIS. Or Create Asset Record in GIS and Interface create asset in SAP.
In your scenario if asset are being created in SAP and assign GIS specific characteristic in classification then interface should update it in GIS.
Equipment characteristic moves from GIS to SAP and SAP to GIS.
This integration should have unique ID identified to identify equipment number in SAP database and Equipment number in GIS data base.
SAP and GIS integration is SOA base architecture (Service oriented architecture) Mainly we need to understand what is a common information we have between SAP asset and Asset maintained in GIS. In case primary information does not exits what is secondary key information which will help identifying SAP asset and GIS database assets. Once we finalize these primary connection points we identified which are attributes going to go from GIS and get updated in SAP and vice versa.
