Planning material

Good morning all.  I have a scenario where a material is manufactured using raw materials provided by the customer.  This part of the process is straightforward to set up, but there is an additional twist. The customer does not have an account with the raw material supplier as they cannot order in sufficient quantities.  So we buy the raw material on their behalf, but we sell it to them straightaway so that they have the liability.

At the moment this works as follows.

1) We buy the raw material A.

2) We sell the raw material A to our customer.

3) We bring the  raw material back into our stock with zero value and a different material number B.

This process works well, except for planning.

Material B is used and consumed during the production process and the demand on MRP sits on this material B.

We would like the demand on material B to trigger demand on Material A, so we can plan the purchase of material A.

I am wondering if it would be possible to use material B as the planning material for material A.

Do you think this could be done?  Any help/ideas would be very welcome.

Thank you.
